Over
three-hundred commercials,
a bunch of feature films
and a butt-load of television
credits, Frank Payne has
been making a mark in
the industry for years.
Hailing
from Chicago, the first
of four sons to Irish
immigrant parents, Frank
grew up with a serious
work ethic, which served
him well as he spent years
coaching his high school
wrestling team at Saint
Patrick's -- no relation,
climbing the sky-scrappers
of Down Town as a Journeyman
Iron Worker, Local #62
and then owning and running
his own night clubs. Enough
work for the whole family
but Frank's a big ball
energy and loves spreading
it around.
After being hit by a car
one evening, doctors told
Payne he might lose his
leg. While it wasn't a
"go to the light"
experience, it did end
up being a "go to
the spot-light" experience
because Payne realized
what he wanted to do more
than anything, -- more
than jamming to techno
at 3:00AM, more than pinning
high school students to
the gym floor, and more
than bending iron with
his bare hands -- was
to make people laugh.
He began at the famed
The Second City and soon
started picking up commercial
work for companies such
as Tombstone Pizza, Sony,
Snickers, Nike, Samsung
and the Internet Company,
@Home on-line. While getting
paid in pizza, candy bars
and gym shoes, he opened
his own theatre and formed
the company: Broad Shoulders.
He
then moved to Los Angeles
to find more jobs that
actually paid money. Frank
immediately felt fortunate
landing roles on My
Wife and Kids, Providence,
The Man Show, The Tonight
Show, Garfield: The Movie
(Don't roll your eyes,
it was either that or
Family Circle: The
Movie), The Amanda
Show, Jack Pot, MTV's
Club Dead, Love Made Easy
and his most recent
gig as Host of his own
show, BIG!
Frank is a
true believer of giving back. And in that tradition,
he has worked with children throughout the Midwest
-- teaching them the joys of writing using
improvisation. Frank?s been lucky enough to
teach at a number of schools in the Los Angeles
area but dedicates himself to the All About Kids
Youth Conservatory where he helps urban kids achieve
their dreams. He is a member of UCLA?s Imagination Workshop where
helps patients communicate and deal with different issues using theatre
exercises. Frank is also a Producer with Avalon Family Films where he is
dedicated to creating a complete library of G-rated Films for the entire Family.
He is also a contributor to the Children First Foundation.
